Mum's service is to be held at Rochdale Crematorium on Thursday 25th February 2021 at 10:30 am.
Due to the current restrictions of only 22 people in the crematorium, the service will be by invitation only. There will not be an outside broadcast at the crematorium unfortunately. However, we are aware that lots of people would like to be present in some way. So the service will be broadcast online via the Web link.
We also want to give anyone who would like to pay their respects and say goodbye in person the chance to do that. So mum's final journey will be from her house to Rochdale cemetery via Rochdale Rugby Union Football Club, from 10:10am. There is plenty of space along the road into the club and on the car park for people to gather safely. Mum and dad both spent so many years enjoying their time at the club together, as a family, and with amazing friends, so it seems fitting. Though I'm sure she'd prefer if we could stop for a pint of bitter whilst there...
Anyone who is attending the service, it's probably best to just be at the crematorium for 10:30 rather than trying to be at the club as well.
We understand that the restrictions are making an already difficult day harder. Please can we as a family ask that everyone is as careful as possible for themselves and others? We've first-hand experience of this now and want all our friends and family to be safe. Were going to find it incredibly hard to not be able to cuddle everyone. Please cuddle your loved ones for us.
Mum specifically asked for no flowers to be sent. Instead, we've chosen two amazing places to donate to, should you wish. The first is Maggies. This is a centre that care for those with cancer. They've supported mum for years in various ways. Secondly, Springhill Hospice. They're such incredible people who look after cancer patients with love and dignity. They've been fantastic with us as a family throughout mum's illness and she has raised a significant amount for them over the years.
